If the channel you sold through shut down — read this first
You lost your shelf. You didn't lose your business.
Booth malls close. Marketplaces fold. Platforms change the rules overnight. The way out is the same every time: put your catalogue and your customer list somewhere nobody else can switch off.
- $999
- flat, one-time
- 7 days
- to live
- $97/mo
- optional care
A booth doing $3K a month typically cost $300–$500 a month in rent and commission. The $999 launch is roughly two months of that — for a channel you own outright, with no landlord and no cut of your sales.
What actually happens
When a channel closes, three things are true.
The pattern repeats. Painted Tree Boutiques ceased operations at more than sixty locations in April 2026 and told vendors it was preparing to file Chapter 7, giving them days to collect stock. Booth malls, consignment floors and marketplaces have done the same thing before and will again. If it just happened to you, this is the part nobody sends you an email about.
- The operator does not own your inventory. It belongs to you and you can retrieve it. If you haven't yet, do that first. Everything else can wait.
- Sales you were owed may never be paid. In a Chapter 7 filing, vendors are unsecured creditors and sit near the back of the queue. File a proof of claim when the trustee publishes case details, but do not plan cash flow around it.
- Your business didn't close. A sales channel did. You still have products, customers who already bought from you, and a brand that existed before the shelf did. The work is moving all of it to ground you own.
None of the above is legal advice. For a creditor claim, talk to an attorney or the trustee assigned to the case.

Why ownership matters
Your customer list is the asset. Everything else is replaceable.
Whoever ran your old channel held years of your customers' contact details, and those walked out with the business. If your next sales channel holds your list the same way — on someone else's server, under someone else's rules — you haven't recovered. You've relocated the same risk.
A store you own gives you the domain, the email list, the product catalogue, the customer records, and the ability to take every one of them with you if the platform ever becomes the wrong choice. That is what makes it recovery rather than a change of landlord.

Questions displaced sellers ask.
Yes. Most sellers we work with have never touched Shopify. You provide products, photos, and decisions. We do the building and hand it over with a training call.
Keep Etsy running. We'll set up your Shopify as the channel you own and, if you want, sync inventory between the two with an app. Nothing forces you to pick one on day one.
Almost never directly. The operator holds that data and a bankruptcy trustee is unlikely to release it. What does work is rebuilding the list from people who already know you: social followers, past packing slips, business cards, and local outreach. We install email capture on day one so it cannot happen to you twice.
A full setup through Pixeltree is $999 flat, which is roughly two months of typical booth rent and commission. That covers theme setup, up to 20 product listings, payment processing, shipping configuration, and 30 days of post-launch support. You pay Shopify's own subscription (from $39/month) and your domain registrar (around $15/year) directly, because those accounts belong in your name.
Seven days from kickoff. You supply your logo, product photos, and product details; we handle configuration, listings, and the technical setup. The clock starts when your content reaches us, so if you need longer to gather photos, we pause rather than rush.
A marketplace is a reasonable bridge and a poor destination. It gives you traffic on day one, but it also keeps the customer relationship, charges per sale, and can change its rules or close without warning. A Shopify store means you drive your own traffic but own the domain, the data, and the list. Most sellers who have just lost a channel run both for a while, then let the marketplace fade.
